The project we undertook together aimed to meet the requirements outlined in Clause A.8.8 of the ISO/IEC 27001 standard, which mandates regular technical assessments of vulnerabilities. Athalie’s expert team conducted a comprehensive review of the security configurations and permission settings in the Microsoft 365 environment, based on the CIS (Center for Internet Security) Microsoft 365 Benchmark.

CIS Benchmark

The CIS Benchmark is a widely recognized industry standard that provides a comprehensive set of guidelines to help organizations securely configure cloud-based systems — including Microsoft 365. With the enforcement of NIS2, these benchmarks have become more relevant than ever.

During the assessment, we reviewed over a hundred technical parameters. Key focus areas included multi-factor authentication, audit logging, data loss prevention (DLP), permission management, and email protection.

Based on the assessment, we provided actionable recommendations to elevate the organization’s security posture. These improvements were then implemented in close collaboration with Gill & Murry’s internal IT team.
